Does life feel like it's getting on top of you?
Could you benefit from a place to take some time-out?
... to explore your thoughts and feelings?
... to find ways of coping?
... to see things more clearly?
Are you struggling with loss or bereavement or feeling stressed or anxious?
If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then talking to a counsellor could be for you.
Since Covid, many people are experiencing anxieties and stress. Even problems that seemed manageable before can now feel too much. It’s as though everything is sitting on a bed of Covid worries, so it’s not surprising that people are struggling. You are not alone if this is happening to you. Talking and finding new ways of coping or a new perspective can really help.
Everyone experiences life differently because we all have our own unique set of circumstance, so I work with you rather than the issue or difficulty. We work together, exploring what would be helpful to you. It is often a combination of unpicking why you feel as you do and practical tools to help you cope in the here and now. I am very experienced and have been a practicing counsellor in Earley, Reading and Wokingham, for the past twenty-one years. I am a Person Centred, Humanistic Counsellor and I have also taught counselling. I have worked as a therapist in a variety of settings, including the NHS.
As a therapist, I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. When working Face to Face I offer a quiet and private space where you can feel free to offload, talk about your feelings or explore what’s troubling you. I also offer on-line appointments, either because of Covid restrictions or because that’s what suits you better. I will still be in my counselling room, offering you the same opportunity to speak privately to me.
I am a Person Centred Counsellor so I believe in finding what works for you, both in terms of the therapy I offer and for how long we work together. I can work on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period. We regularly review our work together so that you can see what’s helping and if there are still things that you want to change or explore. It will be up to you.
Usually appointments are weekly but life styles are different so I am flexible in my approach. Some people prefer to come for therapy on the same day and time while others vary from week to week depending on their commitments. I offer day and evening appointments Monday to Friday.
It may be that you have a specific issue that you wish to deal with or that you just want 'to feel better'. Either way we can work together to help you or make sense of your situation.
